Color of the Year – Magenta Metaverse

Viva Magenta feels like exactly the type of energy people are wanting to bring into 2023. A sense of warmth and richness that still feels fresh and cheerful. It’s bold without being overpowering, it’s invigorating and inviting. And… coincidence? Same color is in the Tik Tok logo?

The color was hand picked by trend professionals who look closely at fashion and interior design. Then fed through the AI System, Midjourney, creates an “endless new ecosystem to be explored, called ‘the Magentaverse.’” In a news release, Midjourney called Viva Magenta, a.k.a. Pantone 18-1750, “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time.” Metaverse magenta.

Magenta is nothing new when it comes to grow. Loads of studies have been done on the effects of red/blue lights and the effects on the cannabis plants and the results tell us that a healthy dose of red and blue light are optimal for a healthy plant. The red light boosts photosynthesis during the flowering stage and blue light is essential to the cannabis plant’s structural growth during multiple phases.

The takeaway?

Cannabis loves magenta light.

Retail design, specifically dispensaries, are leaning heavy into experiential moods. The new vision for cannabis dispensaries (specifically in rec- use locations) is one that absolutely combines multiple sense- touching points within the space. A full immersion into whatever theme or vibe the brand is putting out there. Customers love being transported to a new place and interior retail design is absolutely the coolest way to do it.

So it makes sense for a sense-grabbing, mood evoking, bold color to take center stage. 2023 isn’t playing it safe.

Love the magenta chairs paired with a deep, grounding teal.

Magenta has a warmer base than a fuschia which makes it very adaptable. Looks beautiful with cooler tones but will also add a nice spice level to neutrals.
